Install Windows 7 x64 on HP 15-f211

The new HP 15-f211 Laptop comes preinstalled with Windows 10 Home edition.

If, like many, you are more comfortable with the look and functionality of Windows 7, the following guide will walk you through the process of installing Microsoft's most beloved and easy to use operating system.

First, you will need Windows 7 64 bit Installation Media.

I recommend using a DVD as, despite the HP websites claim of there being a single USB 2.0 port on the laptop, a Windows 7 USB Installer will give the following error: "A required CD/DVD driver is missing"

You can alternatively slipstream USB3 drivers into the USB installer, but that is outside the scope of this tutorial.

Once you have a Windows 7 64 bit Installation DVD inserted into the laptop, turn the computer on and tap the F9 key at a rate of roughly one tap per second.

This will bring up the Boot Options menu.

Choose the DVD Rom option.

Follow the on-screen setup directions to install Windows 7, deleting the existing Windows 10 partitions on the hard drive.

Once Windows has been installed, you will see that Windows 7 does not come pre-loaded with any of the correct drivers for the hardware components of the HP 15-f211.

I have provided all the necessary drivers in the following link:

(Note: You will need WinRAR to extract this archive)

Install each driver one by one, rebooting the laptop as prompted.

Ideally, you should install the chipset driver first, followed by the trusted management engine, usb 3.0 controller, video card, and so on in order of highest to lowest priority.

To verify all drivers have been successfully installed, check the Windows device manager by running the command "devmgmt.msc" from the Run utility by clicking on the Start button.

There you have it!

Windows 7 x64 on an HP 15-f211 Laptop!

We hope this helps someone out there as it took us several hours and lots of frustration to finally get this accomplished!
